Tara R. Burd

Tara R. Burd brings extensive probate and trust litigation experience, with a specific emphasis on probate administration, probate avoidance estate planning, and complex trust litigation. Much of her career has been focused on helping clients navigate their way through breach of contracts, business disputes, partition actions, employment, and personal injury lawsuits.

While her practice is dedicated to defending individuals, Ms. Burd has handled an incredibly diverse range of legal matters. She has represented companies, partnerships, and sole practitioners in a variety of practice areas, including anti-trust matters in both federal and state courts, as well as mass action civil rights case on behalf of inmates, and appeals.

Outside the probate sphere, Ms. Burd crafts strategies for clients to reduce or eliminate the risk of litigation through creative and proactive solutions. She is a prolific writer on these complex topics and regularly speaks to groups and organizations.

Locally, she currently serves as the past President of the Irish-American Bar Association and is actively involved in the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the San Diego County Bar Association.

Ms. Burd is active in the community as the Co-Chair of the Real Property Law Section of the California Lawyers Association (CLA). Within CLA, she also serves on the Marketing and Communications (M+C) subcommittee, and led the CLA’s Online Research and Publication Services Committee, testing and demonstrating cloud-based products to be offered as a member benefit. In 2018, she was appointed to serve on The State Bar of California’s Access Through Innovation of Legal Services (ATILS) Task Force, which is tasked with reevaluating rule and laws applicable to the practice of law for the purpose of increasing access to justice through the use of technology and innovation. 

Ms. Burd is the recipient of the AV®-Preeminent™ peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell. In 2017, she was first selected by Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star and has continued to earn that recognition every year since. Ms. Burd was named a recipient of the Reisman Award by Clio in 2018.
